Abstract

Purpose: This study was established to compare Platelet Rich Fibrin (PRF) versus Placental Extract Gel on delayed implant placement.

Patient and Methods: Sixteen patients aged from 35-45 years were selected for that study. Split mouth design was performed, placing PFR on one side of the mouth while placing placental extract gel on the other side of the mouth during implant insertion. Follow -up was done for all the cases 6 months postoperatively both clinically and radiographically. When comparing two groups within the same timepoint, the student unpaired t-test was employed, and when comparing two timepoints within the same group in normally distributed data, the paired t-test was employed.

Results: In terms of modified plaque index and the modified gingival index (mGI), the results of our study show significate difference between the PRF group and Placental extract gel group along all the evaluation times (P No significant difference was found between the two groups regarding the radiographic measurements (P>0.67).

Conclusions: In terms of changed gingival and plaque indices, the use of PRF and placental extract gel enhanced soft tissue healing surrounding short dental implants. The same was noted regarding post operative pain and inflammation. The use of PRF or Placental extract gel showed no vertical bone level alternations radiographically.
