Abstract

Objective: The purpose of this study was to compare the effects of three types of conservative treatment modalities (maxillary anterior repositioning splint, low-level laser therapy and infra-red led on the temporomandibular joint and masticatory muscles) for temporomandibular disorder. Materials and methods: A total of 30 patients diagnosed with anterior disk displacement with Reduction, underwent examination using magnetic resonance imaging. The participants were randomly assigned according to treatment modalities into three groups (n=10): maxillary anterior repositioning splint, low-level laser therapy and infra-red led. Clinical evaluation was performed at the baseline and after a six-month follow-up period utilizing the Helkimo Clinical Dysfunction Index.
